I’m overjoyed to announce my latest app, Callsheet, is now available!

Callsheet is the best way to look up information about movies, TV shows, cast, and crew. It’s fast, and it respects your time.

Callsheet is free for your first 20 searches; after that you must subscribe to use it. Plans start at just $1 per month or $9 per year. Every subscription comes with a 1-week free trial.

Announcing Callsheet

I am extremely excited to announce that Callsheet is now available in the App Store!

Liss is More
Callsheet is *fast*, respects your time, and there’s nothing to log into. Callsheet also has some neat features to improve your media-watching experience. Let's talk about a couple…

I think my favorite feature is the affordances for hiding TV spoilers.

Did you ever watch a TV show, and look at the cast list, only to see a character is — based on their episode count — killed off early? Or that an actor has more than one character credit, revealing a secret identity?

When browsing a list of episodes, a title too much? Or the thumbnail shows something you weren’t prepared to see?

Callsheet allows you to hide any or all of these things, to keep your TV shows spoiler-free.

Callsheet is an app written by me, but also for me. Whenever I watch a TV show or movie, I always want to look at the trivia. By default, Callsheet puts that front-and-center.

However, not everyone cares about trivia. Callsheet allows one “Quick Access Link” that’s front-and-center; the other ones are also quickly available using the “More…” menu.

If one of the other options is more your speed, you can change the Quick Access Link in the in-app Settings.

Speaking of figuring out how to watch a piece of media, Callsheet has your back, thanks to the power of Just Watch:

I would be remiss not to mention that you can **optionally** choose to support me a little extra. If you walk down the path of subscribing, you may notice a small “More Purchase Options…” link that you can tap. If you choose to, you can optionally support me by signing up for a more expensive subscription.

No additional perks… other than my incredible appreciation. 💙

You won’t hurt my feelings if you don’t choose them, but you may find a little surprise in there… 🫣

To round this out, many THANK YOUs are owed to a bunch of people:

• @jelly for his awesome icon. My idea, executed to a degree I am still floored by
• @stegrainer for his hilarious and beautiful screenshots
• @BenRiceM for their design advice and critiques; Callsheet is way WAY better looking because of Ben’s efforts
• @chockenberry for his help with both design and with code
• @_inside for getting me over a nearly impenetrable wall… even if I ended up going around it later on

And perhaps most of all

• ATP members, for beta testing Callsheet. It is a way WAY better app because of all of you. 💙

Now, go subscribe!!

App Store
@caseyliss insta subscribed! Lovely app sir.

@caseyliss I’m a Max-supporter! Also, TestFlight makes it super easy to install the “real” version instead of the beta these days. You used to have to go and delete the beta then go to the store.

One suggestion: please consider allowing a subscription without a trial period, for those of us who like subscriptions to start on a particular date. Plus, I already knew I wanted the paid version, so the trial wasn’t necessary

@scottearle 1) Thank youuuuuuuuu! 💙
2) I hear you about trials, but then I'd need to double up on SKUs to have one with-trial, one without, etc. It'd get confusing! 😵‍💫😆
@caseyliss 1) you’re very welcome! 2) ah, you make a good point. I’ve seen an app that did that before, and appreciated it. But I’ve not played with that side of the store very much, and you have several times now, so I bow to your better judgement. 3) congrats for getting this app out! I’ve been following this on ATP with what seemed like a rollercoaster of emotions. I’m happy for you now that it’s finally out 😊
@caseyliss At last, no more hunting down my AppleID Password in 1Pass to feed into the Testflight subscribe UI... ;). Insta-subbed

@caseyliss Congrats with the launch!
First thing I noticed was how snappy the app feels. Really nice!

The only nitpick (feel free to ignore!): the icon buttons look a bit off. They could probably do with more padding/smaller icons.

Instantly subscribed, I’m sure I’ll get a ton of use out of it!

@caseyliss deleted TestFlight. Installed production version. Annually subscribed (cheapskate version). 👍🏻👍🏻
@caseyliss Love the app and now a subscriber. But one thing to note - I JUST installed the app on my iPad Pro, went to immediately subscribe, and saw this. Not sure why it’s at 17. Running iPad OS 16.5.1 (c). Let me know if I can provide any more info.
@cwatson Did you do searches on any other devices on the same iCloud account?
@caseyliss Only during the ATP beta member period, not since the official release.
@cwatson That’ll do it. Still the same iCloud container between TestFlight and the App Store.
@caseyliss 👍 kinda figured, just a slight bit of confusion and wanted you to know in case this causes any other support questions. If only Apple would reset the search counter after official release of the app!
@caseyliss First, I love the app. Could you share your reasoning behind not allowing the app on Apple silicon Macs? It seems most developers don't and I just don't get it. A less than optimal app is better than no app at all.
@largepete because I’m already embarrassed about how shitty the ipad app is; no need to add Mac to the list

@caseyliss Subscribed!

1. Any plans to make the app’s highlight color customizable? Or did I overlook an existing pref? (It's a good default color; I just always explore the options.)

2. Forgive a question from a non-iOS-dev: Is it possible for a Test Flight beta app to provide a link to the App Store version of an app? I went ahead and searched the App Store to get it, but first I poked around to see if I could find anything like that in the beta. Laziness is a lot of work, man.

@caseyliss Favorite feature: configurable Quick Access Link. I switched to Wikipedia as my movie info reference many years ago when IMDB turned into a garbage experience, and it's a pleasure to be able to one-tap over there for more info.

As such, you've made a better Wikipedia movie search UI than the Wikipedia app itself.

@FormerlyStC 1. I don't currently plan to, but an annoying number of people are asking for it. 😆

2. It is, yes.

@caseyliss 1. We’re here for you, Casey. By which I mean we’re here for us.

2. Cool cool

@caseyliss @FormerlyStC #1, subscriber-only feature! Who cares if it's purple if you barely use it?
@caseyliss it’s excellent, thank you
@caseyliss You sold me on including people's ages not just their date of birth. IMDB took that away from the main screen a while back and it's so annoying.
