It's gonna become a cat and mouse game of course, and enshittification will eventually win, but that's gonna be a pyrrhic victory :3 if they lock audience out of YT, both the audience and creators are going to look for alternative platforms like #PeerTube

probably a popular opinion on the fediverse, but i genuinely can't see youtube and other such corpos doing this sort of shit as anything but a violation. there's transphobic ads and fatphobic ads etc. which youtube probably could pretty easily help people with accounts avoid, but obviously doesn't. my experience is less accessible without adblock. i actually don't mind watching ads as a means to support people's art etc., but it's always just a bit of a gamble. seizing control from the people is fucked up.
