Corporations don’t *actually * exist in our world. They exist entirely within human perception.

So when you give corporations political power, the power is actually consolidated amongst a very select few individuals who then simply “act” on behalf of the corporation.

There is no democracy within corporations. They are oligarchy’s of wealth, who wield their political power to further their own gains at the sacrifice of disgusting sacrifice of the rest of the population.

Any democratic system that can be swayed by the interest of corporations isn’t a democracy.

It’s just wearing the skin of it.

@bear_delune Ever since i learned the term “notational agent” i have thought of corporations this way. A #literaryDevice embodied pseudo-entity used to three-card monty away societal accountability.

(turns out the only reference i can find in web search to the term #notationalAgent is #RobertAntonWilson ? well, thanks brain for holding on to it, i guess! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everything_Is_Under_Control:_Conspiracies,_Cults_and_Cover-ups )

I love that definition! Reminds me this

@bear_delune oh yes! i saw that one a while back.

this thread tickles my memory about other literary instances of exposing this irl problem through fictional characters, but i can’t pull out the instances. maybe something from #MichaelEnde like #Momo?

Oh, i guess #Oz would be a great example too. will probably be adding this #trope to the collection of lists of ideas i collect.

(ex: songs with voicemails/answering machine messages from parents; i like that one so much)
