@Njord I don't think we'll be able to be truly carbon neutral or even carbon negative in 10, 20 or even 50 years.

I think the hammer will probably end up swinging more towards nationalism, fascism and authoritarianism in the next 10 years and that will have long-lasting effects.

Thus, much worse.

@Njord

If we win, much better.
If we don't win, much worse.

@Njord @eniko I think every answer to this scares me in a different way
@Njord throught history, as bad as things had gotten at times, the scale has always tipped towards progress and improvement, because people simply do not easily acept defeat when things get bad.
As bad as things are, and as bleak as the future looks, I think there is progress being made in some areas and those who try and pull us back down are losing their grip more and more.
I can't be too optimistic, but I think things will improve.
@Njord I like to think of myself as an optimist... It's a common bias to think society won't outlast oneself, which I try to avoid. I think society as we know it will exist, but with a bit more fascism by the decade as conditions worsen due to stratification and climate change, for at least a couple hundred years. 😌
@Njord It seems I am in the 4% who think sanity will win out. I fear my optimism may prove unfounded, but I have to believe, to keep fighting!
@KimSJ @Njord i’m an optimist as well. I think there is an undercurrent of realism even amongst the stupidest of politicians that will come out , hopefully before it’s too late.
