This is just straight up sabotage of Alberta's economy for purely ideological purposes. In the face of a global energy transition the rest of the world is rising to meet this is the stuff of banana republics.

Alberta announces six-month pause on renewable energy, citing rural concerns

EDMONTON - Alberta’s United Conservative government is pausing all approvals in the province’s booming renewable energy industry in response to what it says are rural and environmental concerns.

@Bentley Citing environmental concerns.. 😂 A truly believable remark.
@dariohudon As hypocritical a statement as has ever been made
@Bentley
I doubt it's purely ideological. The O&G industry finds ways to pay them big bucks to keep ruining our environment.
@EllenInEdmonton @Bentley
That's what makes it ideological. The ideal that places grift (money) above responsibility to the public.
It's self-interest above responsibility, a rampant disease in the west.
@shaun @Bentley
Hey, Shaun, are you coming on the Lakeland trip on September long? We can have some interesting campfire discussions!
@EllenInEdmonton @Bentley
I have not been able to commit to any out of town trips this year. But thank you, not many express interest for my dance with semantics.
@shaun @Bentley Oh, too bad. That’s my absolute favourite #Alberta #paddling trip!! Super happy it got added to the schedule.
@Bentley Nobody does it better than these weirdos 🫤🦧
It’s very shocking to me the things I see happening in Canada, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it
@hfentonmudd I don't want to get used to it
@Bentley I hate it here. I have come to truly hate the only province I've ever lived in. It's so hard to remain hopeful in a place like this.

@Bentley

There's a lot of ridiculous in that article, but this one takes the cake for me.

"Paul McLauchlin of Rural Municipalities Alberta said his members have too many abandoned wells and other oil and gas infrastructure on their land to take chances on a new industry that’s still getting established.
“We’ve learned a lot from the oil and gas industry,” he said. “I’d sure hate to see the same happen to solar operators"

Ah yes, we're opposed to renewable because oil has been so bad to us.

@ChrisMarquis And guess who he voted for
@Bentley what did Alberta expect? This is the beginning. Like global warming it will get worse.
@Oldfartrant Without a doubt. That said she's getting a lot of pushback on not just from the Lefties. Business thinks it's a dumb move too. She's walked back plenty of stuff before....
