The federal grand jury hearing evidence in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election just handed up an indictment of three individuals, widely expected to include a second indictment of Donald Trump in a separate case charging actions trying to overturn that election.

The special counsel will make a statement shortly. Currently a bit delayed and unclear by how much. But when it airs shortly, that statement will be live here: https://www.c-span.org/video/?529681-1/special-counsel-jack-smith-delivers-statement

Special Counsel Jack Smith Delivers Statement

For everyone who forgets that this was not just an unconstitutional attempt to stay in office, but an explicitly violent one
Trump telling Pence "you're too honest" when pence refuses to falsely certify trump
"Co-Conspirator 2 responded that there had previously been points in the nation's history where violence was necessary to protect the republic"
@Pwnallthethings seems like something John Eastman would say

@Pwnallthethings

Can I just say that they lost the Civil War?

These neo-Confederates can't win legally so just like their great-great-grandfathers, they'll just swear to kill us all.

@Pwnallthethings Violence created the republic but after that, exactly when was "violence necessary to protect the republic"??

The War to Preserve Slavery doesn't count.

@Pwnallthethings

Eastman thinks he can argue he shouldn't be indicted. He should absolutely be indicted.

@Pwnallthethings Perhaps I state the obvious, but the Senior Advisor, giving a statement that looks like testimony, seems to be accessible and have access to the Defendant. Almost like he was a Meadows-like Chief of Staff.
@Pwnallthethings in fairness by Trump standards he is too honest.
@Pwnallthethings Yet he still refuses to publicly condemn Trump. Morality and honesty are technically different, I guess.
@Pwnallthethings speaking as a resident of Indiana Mike Pence sucks and he still kissed Trumps ass for 4 years while he was in office.
@Pwnallthethings I find it amusing that they call him "Co-Conspirator 4" like they are going to maintain some sort of anonymity, then go on to point out that he became Acting Attorney General. Hm, that does narrow it down a bit...
@BoredomFestival indictments follow several basic rules, and one of them is they omit nonpublic uncharged names. But they are not especially precious about the name becoming public through context when the context makes it very obvious
