Automations in #Shortcuts are getting a big update in iOS 17.

There's an updated "Run Immediately” option for triggers that didn't have it before, like Email, Messages, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The big tease are Location triggers – which were automatic in beta 1, but aren't anymore… for now? https://matthewcassinelli.com/automations-run-immediately-shortcuts-notifications/

All Automations Now Run Immediately In Shortcuts (Notifications Required)

Shortcuts automations now “Run Immediately” in iOS 17 – a new era for Apple devices. However, there’s a few limitations in the current betas – let’s see if those are fixed by the full release.

Shortcuts is also getting new Automation triggers in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17:

💳 Transactions, like:
💰Payments
🚃 Transit
🎫 Access
🪪 Identity
🖥️ Display
🎭 Stage Manager

Shortcuts has new Automations in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17: Transaction, Display, & Stage Manager

Shortcuts has three new automation types in iOS and iPadOS 17: Transactions, Display, and Stage Manager – here’s an overview of what’s new.

@matthewcassinelli have you had any luck with the Transaction triggers? When I try to read anything from the provided transaction, the automation crashes for me on the latest beta 🤷‍♂️

I’d like to figure it how to test this without needing to spend money, too!

@matt1corey I haven't tested it on this beta, things have been fairly wonky so it might be more reliable later in the cycle
@matthewcassinelli So we will be able to record purchases paid via Apple Pay automatically in a file for example?
@nighcrawl Yes, all the actions are there to create that automation
@matthewcassinelli Cool! I can't wait to be able to play with it and make monthly expense reports 😊
@matthewcassinelli They’re even more strange exceptions given than “arrive at” and “leave from” can be replicated without confirmation by using a focus mode 🤷🏻‍♂️

@matthewcassinelli I get the sense that these will probably be re-added at some point whether that be in A future beta or if we have tk wait until iOS 17.1 or 17.2.

Wasn’t there a shortcuts action a few years ago where this happened? And it was re-added in 00.1 or 00.2 release?

@matthewcassinelli Location triggers can run immediately again as of DB5 😊😊😊
