For the Love of God, Stop Microwaving Plastic. A study of baby-food containers shows that microwaving plastic releases millions upon millions of polymer bits.

Not just bad for babies, bad for all of us. Plastic is such a double-edged sword, I swear.

What exactly is the ‘good’ edge of plastic?!
@kraigschmidt well for one thing: modern medicine. Plastic helped revolutionize health care around the world in more ways than we can keep track of. Again, double edge because of all the waste but there’s no doubt that it has improved our healthcare by orders of magnitudes. That’s just one aspect. Try going to space without plastic too.

@gedeonm
I’m not convinced that other materials (glass, paper, coated paper, metals) couldn’t accomplish all those things?

At any rate, the things that might warrant using plastic are extraordinarily small, compared to the damage caused.

It’s used for everything because it’s cheap, and no one with actual power gives a shit about the negative consequences. [Sigh]
