@cuzco I'm not super familiar with entomophagy (the word alone was new to me), but doesn't it literally mean eating insects?

Cause then I'm confused how this could be a protein source for vegans - or is the protein source something other than insects and I'm missing something?

@jc
You're correct that entomophagy refers to the consumption of insects. However, the term 'entovegan' is used to describe a subset of vegans who choose to include insects in their diet, viewing them as a sustainable protein source. This is a personal choice and varies among individuals in the vegan community.

@cuzco okay, so that you for that first part.

The second part I don't get - vegans who chose to include animals in their diet? I'd call that "mostly plant-based"

@cuzco sorry, but how is eating animals vegan?

@beto

This subset of vegans has chosen to include insects in their diet due to their sustainability and high protein content. It's a personal choice and varies among individuals in the vegan community, called entovegan.

@cuzco @beto nope.

#vegan is not a diet. People including dead animals in their plantbased diet are not vegan, their omnivors

@cuzco eating honey & insects is NOT #vegan

@cuzco okay thank you all, I was starting to question myself.

And as to the "personal choice" - the personal choice to eat what- or whoever you want is valid (as choices go) but to play jump rope with the definition of veganism is not acceptable.

If you harm any animal in any way, you can't call yourself a vegan, hyphenated or not. All it does is water down what actual vegans stand for, so stop it.

#onlyVeganIsVegan

@cuzco Sry, you're using a wrong and misleading term. Vegan means not to harm animals and avoiding animal exploitation. Vegan has nothing to do with your topic, it's the opposite! Please don't spread nonsense, leave the hashtag out and leave goats and bees and ants alone. Thanks.
