Letters from the lawyers: Musk threatens CCDH with brazen attempt to silence honest criticism. — Center for Countering Digital Hate | CCDH

Elon Musk’s lawyers are threatening the Center for Countering Digital Hate with legal action for exposing Twitter’s failure to tackle hate speech. Here’s CCDH’s response.

@w7voa

"If your clients do file suit, please be advised that CCDH intends to seek immediate discovery
regarding hate speech and misinformation on the Twitter platform..."

YES

@w7voa I get it defending court cases is expensive. But the discovery would be EPIC.

@w7voa Again, the Free Speech Absolutist in action!

But who wrote that letter? Didn't he fire all his lawyers?

@w7voa This. More of this! I’m a new fan/follower of CCDH, thanks.
@w7voa Discovery would be glorious (goryous?)
@w7voa "I've got SO MUCH to hide" said the Nepo-baby fuck

@w7voa I think most of US has decent SLAPP protection.

Streisanding themselves out of hate speech might not happen...

@janvenetor @w7voa Unfortunately most of the US does *not* have decent SLAPP protections. But at a glance (IANAL) it looks like DC (where CCDH is based) at least has some robust protections, if not particularly good procedures for getting a suit dismissed.

@w7voa Good keep it up. This is hardly the only thing that will be keeping that piece of shits lawyers busy. Musk deserves to be in court for the rest of his miserable fat ass bloated man nipples life.

@RodneyPetersonTalent

@w7voa The problem is he will face no meaningful consequences for his horrid behaviors, he has so much wealth he can literally waste billions, break laws, behave however he wishes, and still live comfortably with more resources than most people will ever have, shielded behind an army of hired sycophants and lawyers.

This excessive pooling of wealth can be seen as a disease, it alienates and causes sociopathy.

@w7voa Seems like a potential SLAPP lawsuit to me. So much for being a, "free speech absolutist." Musk is a bully who clearly does not believe the laws apply to him, and is happy to leverage his wealth to make other people suffer if it suits him.

@w7voa

Please force them into a lawsuit. FFS, he's paying Nazis his ad money, he's promoting Nazis just because they pay him a few dollars a month.

I'll happily donate to you.

@w7voa companies have forgotten fair use is a thing

@w7voa if they'd spend more time policing the platform, maybe advertisers would come back.

Personally I'm done with platforms that constantly inundate me with trivial chatter. Twitter's biggest usability problem is that it constantly presents me with things I am not asking for, which is the tendency of all advertising-driven platforms. I always read articles on the web with Safari reader mode, to avoid being distracted by all the interstitial ads, which I find unsettling.
