Another evening of #Commodore #Plus4 fun I think! Hmm, what to play first… #RetroGaming #RetroComputing
I’m having a go at a relatively new #Commodore #Plus4 game, #PetsRescue. The version I bought apparently won’t work on an SD2IED but thankfully there’s a version on Plus 4 World that’s a free download and works! I had a quick go last night and couldn’t get very far, but let’s have another go…
@ellieraeuk I have a couple of these I picked up as-is. I'm a little scared of trying them out, since I've heard they can be pretty temperamental.
@Nathaniellockhart I’ve never had any issues with this one, but I vaguely remember reading that they can be prone to overheating. I’m still using the original PSU however, I really should get a new one, or at least an adapter so I can use my modern C64 PSU.
@ellieraeuk that's definitely something that worries me about trying out my Plus/4s. I suppose I can check output voltages before putting it in the computer, but even then it feels like a gamble, especially with something that was sitting in a shed for years.
@Nathaniellockhart the annoying thing about this machine is that, with Commodore being Commodore, many of the ports are different from the C64, so you can't use C64 PSUs, joysticks or datasettes without adapters. Having said that, *some* Plus/4s have the same power port as C64s but I'm not sure how common they are. Funnily enough, I have an adapter which enables me to use my Plus/4 datasette with my C64.
