Brook MilesJapanese five lined skink spotted out walking today.
It posed very cooperatively in the dappled sunlight even as I got right down to get such a close shot with my phone.
Chai@brook That is such a strikingly blue tail :o ...is it cause it's poisonous/venomous?
@chai my understanding (since I just read about it on Wikipedia earlier 
) is that it's a decoy!
If they're attacked, they can drop their shiny blue tail to distract the predator, and make their escape (and grow a new tail later).
