Read why "Web Environment Integrity" is terrible, and why we must vocally oppose it now. Google's latest maneuver, if we don't act to stop it, threatens our freedom to explore the Internet with browsers of our choice: https://u.fsf.org/40a #EndDRM #Enshittification #Google #WebStandards

> Why can't a browser pretend that it has not been tampered with?

As https://github.com/RupertBenWiser/Web-Environment-Integrity explainer.md says,
the browser will send a cryptographic signature of a key embedded in a chip that a pretending browser does not have access to because the chip only exists and works on devices with proprietary OS that prevents it from happening. Like most DRM, someone will likely find a way around it, but it will be illegal under DMCA and it won't be easy to use so most people won't.

@iank I think that this would also be a voilation of the GPL of Chromium. #WEI also stands for Windows Ecosystem Integrity. A coincidence? Not likely. #conspiracy #google #microsoft
