Fediverse drama is never-ending, and that's really frustrating.

I just moved here and now I have to consider another move because of new drama that features "doctored screenshot" receipts. I can't tell which side did the doctoring, and I'm not sure I even care.

Drama is once again tainting my instance, which
will result in defederation from some instances as well as scaring people off from this instance -- and even Firefish itself.

Firefish is
excellent so this is a huge bummer.
@nyquildotorg Agreed. This is what prompted my yammering this morning here https://mastodon.social/@misc/110791864800632376 - which in turn prompted @kylethayer to draft a first take on a #FediGovernancePact. Join the movement!

Mastodon.art is a great server, but I worry its admin is too quick to jump to extreme measures/stances, and because of its prominence, it leads everyone else to assume the worst of everyone else at all times.

Your way of solving this issue beats what has happened before all this.

I love the fediverse, but the feeling of “responding to chaos that I don’t completely understand” comes up more often than it should.

@ernie @misc @kylethayer Do you mind clarifying what you mean by my way "beats what has happened before all this" ? I'm not sure I'm interpreting it the way you're intending.

@nyquildotorg @misc @kylethayer It is a better solution.

We need somewhat higher standards than “instant fediblock because you retooted someone problematic.” It puts us in a situation where all people ever do is just argue.

@ernie @misc @kylethayer are you saying my solution is to just consider moving without trying to pick a side, regardless of who is "in the right"?
@nyquildotorg @misc @kylethayer I’m saying that admins need to stop ratcheting up to 11 the second something happens, and that there need to be controls that discourage that instinct—say, if you donate to the server, you get a vote in how it’s run.
@nyquildotorg @misc @kylethayer Not to be lost here is that the post that was shared is citing an extremely dangerous and problematic precedent that is getting overshadowed over who shared it.
