Trying out this thing :)

I suck at introductions, But here we go, I'm a European langauge guy, both natural langauges and programming languages, I like silly stuff, and talking with nice people. Fan of reading, and otherwise is a serial hobbyist.

#introduction
@sotolf Top 5 books? :)
@badsynthesis I'm very much a sci-fi nerd, and will weed it down to one book per series:

1. Quarter Share, Nathan Lowell
2. Pandora's star, Peter F Hamilton
3. Trading in Danger, Elizabeth Moon
4. Foreigner, C. H. Cherryh
5. Sidespace, G. S. Jennsen

Probably I forgot a lot of other stuff that I like too, but well, at least right now those would be my favourites.

I also share my reading over at

β€Œ@sotolf I love the railways through wormholes series of books. πŸ™‚

@badsynthesis

@[email protected] @badsynthesis Yeah, it's a really cool consept, I also really enjoy the many characters, and even the weirder ones that kind of feels like they are out of place, or at least many think so, like the sylphen roads :)

@sotolf @clacke Yea they're fun :) Pandora's star is the only one I've read on that list, will need to look up the rest.

Not sure if it's your thing but I really enjoyed Library at Mount Char. Got it as a recommendation when I asked a bookstore clerk for "Lovecraft but without the massive rasism and other crap", and I got it.

@badsynthesis @sotolf Oh, if you've read Pandora's Star you need to read Judas Unchained, they're basically two halves of one book. All the stuff set up in the first breaks loose in the second.
@[email protected] @badsynthesis Yeah, the second one is wild :D I also quite liked the new series that PFH wrote, "the Salvation Sequence" it's a really fun series as well, but for variety I just shared one series per author :)

@sotolf @badsynthesis I'm "currently" reading Neptune's Brood by Charlie Stross, meaning I started reading it during my leave in Jan–Feb and it has to be around here somewhere.

I liked the first 60 pages and there's a flood of cool concepts in there as the story slowly starts going. Not a criticism, I'm in it for the world-building and characters and any story is just an excuse.

@clacke @sotolf On the subject of good sci-fi, https://adriantchaikovsky.com/children-of-time-children-of-ruin-children-of-memory.html I've read book 1+2 and really enjoying them. Didn't know there was a third. They feel fresh and creative.
