this morning went from momentary terror to back on the #puravida track .. went to bed last night last night at the #sanjose hostel super early (asked to say how early) and got almost 10hrs of sleep .. up w a cold shower and coffee at 6am to discover that, according to the app and a consult w my host, all tracopa bus tickets to dominical were sold out for today.
as a quick primer, there are lots of ways to get places in #costarica but beyond the bus, they can be pretty expensive .. after checking w the $50 shuttle service (also booked) i thought my options were 1) stay another night in #sanjose, get a bus ticket for the next morning, and burn the first night of my airbnb in dominical or 2) pay for a private car to take me to dominical for $275 .. neither of these options sounded good to me .. i was bummed.
i had to knock my brain out of the rut of "you're dumb and unprepared and it must be annoying to all these folks that you don't speak spanish" .. i took a moment w my coffee and just realized .. whatever i had to do (minus spending $275, that's bonkers) .. everything was gonna be fine .. im here in vacation .. wherever i am, i should be chilling.
so, i decided to take a gamble .. i packed all my stuff up, checked out of the hostel, and took a brisk 40 min walk to the bus station to see if i could talk them into letting me in a bus at SOME point today (there are six or so that leave #sanjose for the #dominical area every day) .. when i got there, guess what i learned?
tracopa bus tickets for "day of" are just not available via the online portal .. you have to just show up and buy them .. glad i made the trek and didn't accept the idea that i wasn't getting out of here today .. also, that walk felt good .. and now i have 3ish hour bus ride w a BEACH at the end of it .. #puravida adventure resumed.

@allistelling Hey! Pura vida!
I'm from Costa Rica and came across this thread, first of all I hope you the best experience in our country!

And second, if I were on a budget I would never ask for a private shuttle, as prices tend to be very expensive and they only go up if they see you are a tourist.

I normally move around everywhere in busses, and when I dont't know how to get to a place I use this app called Moovit, it has worked great for me.

Anyways, have a nice trip!

@allistelling congratulations! Enjoy the beach.
