Why do we need to fear that people dismissive of climate change become even more dismissive? When do we actually stop giving a f-ck about what climate change denialists say?

Because in our political systems, denialists have a free speech and can vote. Thus, they can influence political decisions and support the already powerful lobbies.

Generally the deniers have the ear of people in charge, or they are actually in charge themselves.
@TatianaIlyina its not the extreme denialists that worry me. They're too far down that rabbit hole that no amount of data, facts and logic are going to get them to change their minds.
The problem is the doubt that they put into the minds of the "not 100% convinced", the gaslighting of the scientific process, the reduction of experts in the field to the level of "everyone has an opinion", the weaponry they gift the conservative side of politics to maintain the status quo for the already rich, and the influence they have on those with low scientific literacy.
Its not the nut cases and loons I am scared of: it is the drag on progress they create in the middle thats scares the heck out of me.
@TatianaIlyina The twist is that if Govts actually DO sthg radical like banning all FF cars or taxing polluting companies or drastically reducing meat availability then the #climatedenialists would definitely vote that Govt out in an election. Its like a game of frigging snakes and ladders
