It helps that Firefox is fantastic these days. It's been my full-time work and personal browser for years since swearing off Chrome. Tellingly, the only web properties I've (very) occasionally had issues with are Google ones...
@sanityinc I’ve been using Arc, which is a still chromium wrapper but has been fun.
@sanityinc Yeah, I like Firefox but... it still lacks the speed of Chrome. It's hard to convince people to migrate when the alternative isn't good enough.
@airon Huh, Firefox is blazing fast for me. What are you doing that's so much faster on Chrome?
@sanityinc Just regular browsing. I can feel it, but you can see it properly with any benchmark test too.
@sanityinc if only it would support PWA's again... my major reason for kot using it as primary browser...
@sanityinc Isn’t Safari a more likely guarantor of the relatively open web?
@jgordon Maybe, hard to tell. I didn't mean to imply that Firefox is the only option.
@sanityinc @jgordon Rest assured, in this era, people tend to criticize any opinion without realizing its simplicity.

@jgordon @sanityinc Google and Apple are more likely to make mutually beneficial evil overlord decisions than Mozilla the way I see it. Apple is the king of anti-openness after all.

The new api suggestion from Google for example, will likely be for Edge, Chrome and Safari. All other excluded.

The good thing with Safari is of course that it forces Google to continue using W3C, without it, I guess it would stop being relevant. So I give you that.

@sanityinc Got tired of its weird behavior/ui and gone back to Chrome.

Its all the same, every time.

I hope that something else 'open' arrives, cause I can't with Firefox.

@barbaneigro I worry that "weird" might increasingly mean "not like Chrome" and fwiw I don't find Firefox weird at all. Curious what has seemed weird to you?
@sanityinc You pinpoint it exactly, it does things harshly different from Chrome. That's not ideal to transition.
@barbaneigro Agree. I even use Firefox Mobile, and yeah, that's very different to Chrome on Android, so it took a little adjustment. Now it all feels pretty logical and productive. There are probably guides for how to do "Chrome-like" things in Firefox, but I can understand folks not wanting to invest the time.
@sanityinc @barbaneigro The worst Thing w FF mobile is that opening a private/incognito window doesn’t *look significantly different to a default window. So you’ll develop bad habits. The little mask icon over the tab icon slides away and you have no visual indicator left. Switching to dark mode or some other custom color scheme would be superior. I need to try FF Focus app. See if that feels like better guardrails.
@sanityinc its so much harder to use for me
@sanityinc Tor is much more better on privacy

@sanityinc I always refused to use Google Chrome, LONG ago I was saying "beware, Google wants to take over the world!" I was labelled as a "conspiracy theorist/extremist" .. Always been using Firefox as my main browser ( with a ton of filters/blockers/etc. ) .. I always been "warning" people about clouds, etc. .. "Nobody ever listened" .. now you see where you are ...
@gilesgoat nice. I spent a few years on the dark side, but it's been a long time since I switched back to ff
