r(ul)edditors try not to give money to the people you’re criticizing challenge (impossible) - Blåhaj Lemmy

Lots of them are likely leftover points due to the deprecation of awards.
Basically 99.99%
I never understood why people spend money on reddit. It’s fucking stupid.
on top of that, Reddit rewards are disappearing soon so they are literally throwing money into a fire
It was always that kind - I also don’t get why people are spending money on e.g. bits at twitch. It’s the same kind of stupid. Just give the people you like money with paypal. It’s easier and they get nearly 100% of it.
With “Friends and Family” they get 100%
it’s a big complicated, if you have to spend tax on it - but, yes
In my country Paypay doesn’t tax when doing Friends and Family transactions, but do when you are sending to an account from another country
In germany it demands on the conditions. If you get too much, they will ask why and where you got it. So, if you get small amounts it’s totally ok, if it gets more you will get problems.
Isn’t like that anywhere really? Paypal applies a hard limit on the max amount to send via Friends and Family, needing you to use the taxed other method where it becomes pretty much a bank transaction. For exchanging big sums in general the only real choice is a bank transfer with your real cards.
I think you are confusing taxes with fees? I don’t think PayPal will pay any taxes for you even if you don’t use the “friends and family” feature.
Yeah, I meant fees there.
PayPal doesn’t do the tax, but for the content creator its taxable income
That should be specified some law in each of our countries that specify the amount you can do as independent before its going to be taxed.
Used to ask this question alot. But then I realized, its to be part of a community of sorts, either in a random twitch streamer’s chat or on reddit. I kinda get it now, and I while I wish people would put this money towards either smaller creators or more charitable causes I do also respect peoples right to spend however they want.
You have the right to do stupid things, nobody is denying it.
While I personally think its silly, if the people get that sense of community from doing I wouldn’t outright call it stupid.

I’m pretty sure you can’t buy coins anymore
I spent money on Apollo Ultra, but not on Reddit.
totally reasonable
Reddit premium did make the website more enjoyable. I’d never buy it for myself, but I gave it to a couple of friends over the years and the thought additionally was similar to me paying donations to Beehaw: wanting the website hosting the communities I participate in to keep existing
They used to give out awards to gift daily to encourage people to use the official app. You could also give out gold if you got several gold. I never spent any money but did give out awards.
Why is it being deprecated? I thought it's a major income for them.
I guess they are going to roll something else out to replace it
Let me guess, NFT or something blockchain related.
Wouldn’t be surprised at all.
Doesn’t Reddit already have NFT avatars?
Because Huffman and Musk are apparently (no, I’m not making this up) good buddies who share tips on how to run social media companies.
Reddit admits to taking inspiration from Elon Musk - IT World Canada

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman has admitted that his company’s plan to increase the price of API access was inspired by Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter.

IT World Canada - Information Technology news on products, services and issues for CIOs, IT managers and network admins
By “run” do you mean “destroy”?
Yes, that was the joke, I was being facetious.
Because the owner wants a bland social media.
Awarded - apparently I have gold points there for some reason, and an IM saying they’re about to be removed.
If you ever receive gold or higher you get some coins + premium membership for some days. I don’t know if it is still applies.
Just fyi to prevent misinformation, reddit disabled buying coins when they announced it was being removed. So all these points are leftovers
Also due to this people are even more willing to give out awards, since reddit announced that all coins will be removed from your account after September.
And they misspelled CEO. Fucking achievement right there.
NGL I tried to figure out what joke you were making for several minutes. Then I finally looked at the second “CEO” my brain skimmed past it like 5 times
Average Reddit behaviour.
Upvotes have nothing to do with SEO
Believe it or not, this used to actually work for SEO manipulation before Google got wise
I remember the good old days when reddit managed to make a swastika one of the top google image results for EA Games or something, maybe Comcast.
I tried to upvote the image. Old habits die hard?
REDDITORS TRY TO BE INTELLIGENT (IMPOSSIBLE)
Let’s all increase engagement on his website, that’ll show him 🤓

The issue is, most of the people left on reddit are damn near addicts. Or those who weren’t directly affected by the api and therefor don’t care and just jump on the fuck spez cause hating ceos is cool*.

(CEOs should be hated on don’t get me wrong, but for actual reasons and be held to that hate, not just hating for a trend)

I saw some comments on a Reddit thread about the place picture saying things like, “Who’s spez?” Or “what did this spez person do?” It’s almost like they weren’t even on Reddit around the time of the protests to have a clue what people are upset about. There must be some percentage of Reddit that is just completely unaware.
There definetly is a percentage who doesn’t know about the reddit situation. I would guess a large one.
I supported sending a message on r/place but this is embarrassing
