Please rename this community or change the subject - Feddit

This is another example of US centrism. This is [email protected]. From the name there is no indication that this wouldn’t be about world politics. Please rename the community or change the subject to world politics and create a community like [email protected].

Why don’t you go start a different community if you don’t like this one rather than complain about it? I don’t think it’s fair to tie the location or domain of the instance to your argument. Communities should be hosted on whatever instance they want with whatever content they want.
tbf as someone who doesn't live in the US, I can say that the name is a bit confusing.
What is confusing about it? It’s literally named “politics”.
And what should I call the politics com for my country then? The complaint is that this is US politics.
Nobody asked you or apparently gives a shit about what would be a better name for a community centered around your country’s politics or to be more specific, your preferences. If you don’t like the sub, simply stay away. Why are people complaining about something that literally nobody forced on them.
Because it is named the very vague and general name in lingua franca: politics. I guess other countries will just use their own language for politics so the most impacted are other English 1. language nations. Tho one would think of world politics first on the internet.
The name is not vague. It’s “Politics” and the content matches that. If you read the rules, as you should with any community you subscribe to, you will find that the mods intended for the discussion to be around US politics. If you are looking for politics specific to some other country then you have stumbled upon the wrong community unfortunately. Rather than complain, just move on.
  • Pretend that the default of internet discussions should be your country’s.

  • Complain that other people are complaining.

  • Stay mad.

  • OP finds area of Internet they don’t like.
  • Complains about it
  • Keeps complaining about it
  • Blames the guy that read the rules, agreed to the content, and decided to subscribe.
  • If you don’t like the rules then just leave. It’s not hard. Nobody is trying to make you stay or force you to like this community. Don’t like Fox News? Don’t go to FoxNews.com. Don’t like this sub? Content is not relevant? Just don’t visit here.

It isn’t even like we’re dealing with hashtags being polluted/not specific enough. It’s a community name, not a topic name, and the rules for the community have been set by the current mods to be just US politics. The solution for those who want world politics is to subscribe to the various communities dedicated to it that exist on multiple instances.
Precisely. If this isn’t the community for you then hopefully you can find what you are looking for elsewhere.
True, it’s not vague, but it is a general concept which makes it conceited to default it to “my place” when two extra letters would make it clear.
