The street I grew up on (in the Seattle suburbs) is being renamed for the sci-fi writer Octavia E. Butler! And I helped to make it happen!

This is fabulously exciting.

Lake Forest Park names street after sci-fi author Octavia E. Butler

@seeshespeak that’s amazing ✨ The Xenogenesis series is such a profound set of stories — they’ve stuck with me in many ways.
@kumarvibe an incredible and profoundly imaginative set of books, yes
@seeshespeak I am delighted for you! Take many pictures!
@seeshespeak Nice! I wonder if we can get a street in Portland re-named after Ursula K Le Guin …
@seeshespeak My partner bikes on that street every time she goes to archery practice. It’s right on the way to the Burke Gilman from Lake City and now we’ll have a little story every time we go by.
@brandonlivesin when you see the little blue house with all the flowers, that my parents’; the little brown one directly across from it was Butler’s
@seeshespeak That is exciting! And how wonderful to have known such an extraordinary writer.
@seeshespeak good for you. We all need more interesting street names. In my city multiple streets are named Washington 🤔
@seeshespeak oh boy! Another scifi author to read!
