@liztai America has become the parody of a 'middle kingdom' the west accused China of being. Sufficient within its own huge borders :)
@Loukas China knows a lot more about the US as they send their students to America and also consume American media. Maybe it's time be the same? ;)
@liztai I remember telling one of my teachers 30 years ago that China was becoming the 'workshop of the world' like Britain was in the 19th century, so we should pay more attention to it, and he laughed at me. It's depressing how people think they can ignore China, or only talk about it in terms of threat.
@Loukas I hate say it but, well, colonialism. They are far too used to thinking of China as inferior.
They also don't understand the historical drive behind China's growth, and why THAT is a force to be reckoned with as it has united the people in a crazy way. A united country can do A LOT.
@Loukas Anyway, I'm very sure America will wake up one day ... just not sure when, and whether it'll be in time to reverse its declining influence.
