Polywog 🏳️‍🌈 (she/her)
I'm not much of a #birder -- I catch #photos of them sometimes when out on #UrbanNature walks, but I don't research anything about them or go specifically looking for anything. But it still feels special to see two different night herons in two different locations (#Brickworks yesterday and #RiverdaleFarm today), on two days in a row.

We're right at the northern end of their range here in #Toronto and the #DonValley used to be an industrial wasteland before several decades of intense rehabilitation and human intervention to fix what we'd done wrong. Both areas that I saw them in this weekend are heavily managed by the parks system to keep them clean and safe for animals. While the state of the world can be awful and scary, it's nice to have occasional reminders that human effort can be expended for good, too.
