So as obviously not a diver, is it normal to refer to the north and south pacific individually? Because that feels like padding to me
it’s normal to shut up and listen to actual experienced divers if you have something like 21 dives (some people do that many in one week). Being a moderator of a community is sort of the opposite of that

That would be 3 dives a day. Very risky. Maybe commercial divers?

Edit: I’m an avid diver with 22 dives under my belt. Only 1 ocean though, thus not qualified to moderate…

3 or 4 dives, just tourists

More like snorkling then? How do you deal wwith the danger of decompression sickness, especially with tourists? Sorry for the dumb question, its been almost 20 years since I had to do the theoretical stuff with all the math…and we had very strict instuctors (CMAS)
on these cruises, everyone dives with their own computers these days, when the dives are spread out through the day (first dive no later than 7 in the morning) then 3 dives is no problem at all even according to the most recent and conservative computers. If a 4th dive is done then yeah, that’s more like a bit of snorkling at 10 meters max and in the dark
I wouldnt call 3 a day risky, but its definitely very exhausting
It’s been a while for me, almost 20 years…but what about the risk of arterial air embolism and decompression sickness?
as long as your ascents are properly timed out with your dive computer it becomes much less of an issue – even less of an issue if they’re leading shallow tourist dives – as the previous post pointed out, your biggest problem is just plain exhaustion (which can lead to its own host of issues)
one of my last comments over there was along the lines of I don’t think Reddit understands the sheer scale of what they’re trying to change – 8800+ subreddits, 21,000+ volunteer moderators, but only a couple hundred admins (less after the recent layoffs) – each admin is going to be expected to moderate a hundred communities they know nothing about and are now actively hostile …
walking into a medical convention and bragging you got a perfect score on the game Operation …

“As an avid diver myself (21 dives across all 7 oceans)”

yeah … um … ooh boy …

ALL SEVEN OCEANS!!!
Yarrr we plunder 'cross the seven seas!
Fun fact, the term "7 seas" has never referred to any specific list of seas and is older than knowledge of the Pacific/Indian oceans by western cultures
Source?

Because there are over 50 seas?
But more colloquially, the 7 seas are generally taken to be 7 different regions of the 5 oceans (seeing as most people recognise the southern ocean as the 5th of the traditionally 4 oceans).

I know you are trolling and sealioning or JAQing off.
But, for such established facts, you can Google these things yourself.
And even if you don’t trust most of the sources, the majority will confirm there are not 7 seas.

You can call me a dumbass all you want. Doesn’t change the real facts. You and your hobby hurt the environment. There is 0 environmental benefit from you polluting the seven seas. Call me a sea lion. Hope the next time you see a dead one you think about what I said.

Yeah. The only way that makes sense is military.

That would be easy access to all 7 oceans.

And then 21 dives means 21 civilian dives. Because they cant talk about the work stuff.

insert Navy Seals copypasta

They open with:

“First let me introduce myself. Naturally i work well under pressure”

To me that rules out option 2 or 3: rich sob on vacations or yacht deckhand fucking around on breaks while working for rich ass sob.

first mod reads like your dad getting hold of a book of water puns and finding out you just got your cert

I love all these new "mods" (cough scabs cough) who act as if the community of the subreddit as a whole wasn't supportive of the protest and clearly it was only the old bad mods doing everything.

Also, based on that last image, what are they going to do, ban every member of the sub and kill it that way instead?

It works out in the end, I have seen that personally in r/againsthatesubreddits . The dissenters will leave or either come back and behave. You end up having a better, obedient subreddit than a rowdy one.
Hopefully that changes in the future and the community sees that it's better to destroy the subreddit than let it be sanitized by corporate into banal nothingness.
Welcome to r/diving, brought to you by Scubapro!
What an utter travesty, a complete car crash.
No depths they won’t sink to.
If I still had an account I would participate… uhm I mean help.
