Yeah, that's about right. #Stripe deactivated my account and sundered my WordPress subscribers because of the ways I describe people making love. #AmWritingErotica

Yet Stripe has no problem supporting a far-right bigot.

@AborigenGTS I know that #Stripe rejects all erotic content in their terms of service. It's very possible they will kick me off too at some point. They are not friendly towards small businesses in general either. But for now it's the only integration for the software I'm using for my website and I'm not a developer who can make their own. I'm already looking for alternatives and I haven't even launched the subscription.

@AimeeMaroux I know that Ko-Fi uses Stripe for transactions, but they haven't canceled my Ko-Fi account yet, so maybe the extra layer buffers against scrutiny? Ko-Fi is definitely geared for commissioned pieces.

Otherwise, there's Liberapay.

Liberapay

We help you fund the creators and projects you appreciate.

@AborigenGTS

Liberapay might be such a "buffer" too but technically it's not allowed either:

"Can creators of NSFW content use Liberapay?
The payment processors Liberapay supports have unfavourable policies towards sexual content. PayPal requires pre-approval, and Stripe prohibits it entirely. So, while it is possible to use Liberapay for some adult-only content, it is usually better to use a platform specialized in such content."

@AimeeMaroux Oh no, that's disappointing to learn. They used to be more open to this stuff, happy to be an alternative to PayPal. Then I'm at a loss, I don't know of any alternatives.
@AborigenGTS It seems like they are just as dependent on external payment providers as other websites and not offering their own system.
Which is the biggest problem for NSFW content creators, really. Adult payment processors are much more expensive as the adult industry is "high risk" and it seems a little wild to use it for, like, drawings and stories.
