When those of us who work on CO₂ removal (CDR) meet, it’s apparent that no one wants to do this and no one thinks it’s easy.

It’s far easier and cheaper to stop emitting CO₂.

The fact that some of the smartest people I know decide to work on CDR signals our desperation.

@davidho

So you followed a #vegan lifestyle for many years I guess?

If yes, when you talk about #climatechange as a problem, can you please promote #veganism as an important thing to do and in your bio? Thanks.

Vegans, vegetarians, fish-eaters and meat-eaters in the UK show discrepant environmental impacts - Nature Food

Modelled estimates of the environmental impact of dietary choices often fail to reflect true dietary practice. This study links a dietary dataset from 55,000 UK consumers with food-level data on GHG emissions, land use, water use, eutrophication and biodiversity to compare the environmental burden of different levels of meat consumption.

@alexl On behalf of Exxon, Shell, BP and others: thank you, Alex, for pointing out this hypocrisy! It's a huge shame @davidho doesn't say anything about personal responsibility, and doesn't promote individual methods of combating this issue, shifting it onto someone else.

@brawaru

The livestock industry pollutes more than the entire transport sector. It's 10 000 000 000 individuals killed every year that need to be fed for years.

The oil industry exists because people consume energy for everything.

There is no way to produce energy without emissions and there probably isn't enough rare-earth elements for batteries.

So sorry, going #vegan is the only thing you can do and it is the most effective one, way more than anything else.

You are very rational in your thinking, thank you a lot for saying this out loud. People definitely should be embracing vegan lifestyle and other ways of personal responsibility, like saving water, not leaving food waste, and otherwise carefully monitoring their carbon footprint. It's such a shame that some extremist personalities can't simply accept these facts.

@brawaru

Anything else is almost useless when it comes to emissions, going vegan and making other people go vegan is way more effective, it saves other animals from a life of torture and it helps against desertifications and pollution.

So, sorry, I won't tollerate any dilution of this concept.
