Most faculty work with students they know from their classes, this tends to be more informal, and typically starts out unpaid and may move to paid over time. That said, our university job site posts positions for research assistants, I suspect this is true for most universities. These tend to be grant-funded positions that go through a formal recruitment process.

@njsmyth Thank you for the feedback, I looked you up at first when you were mentioned in the post. I was hoping to cold mail you if you take graduate assistant while studying, unfortunately, some universities websites does not update information about current research projects through grants or other GA.
I will be glad to go formal via email for an opportunity, or are there further recommendations for some faculty? I could use your guidance.
@nzas95 we don't have master's graduate assistants for research, those positions are for our doctoral students. If you look at the University at Buffalo website and look for employment opportunities there may be some things posted there. That's the only centralized resource for hiring in our university.
@njsmyth Thank you prof. I'm grateful.
@nzas95 here's the link for our university. You'll see the research positions option https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/
