To the people asking me to do a legal analysis of Marjorie Taylor Green displaying and emailing Hunter Biden nudes:
@Popehat maybe just an aesthetic analysis, then?
@alexwild @Popehat that would count as a weapon of mass disgustion
@Popehat I... uh... WHAT!?
@ZeirosLion @Popehat Some questions cannot be answered with Safe Search on, and that is a net good for humanity.
@Popehat Doesn't the legal analysis of MTG's showing of Hunter Biden porn begin and end with "Speech or Debate Clause?"
@coreyrayburnyung @Popehat
Yes, as long as she doesn't defame him or cause injury in a separate venue (media appearances, campaign activities, etc).
@Jumpmed @coreyrayburnyung @Popehat her newsletter falls under an exception. And it may have gone to minors.
@coreyrayburnyung @Popehat As I understand it she also distributed it by e-mail to people who had signed up for her e-mail distribution list (which is not age restricted), so some of what she did may fall outside that scope.
@Popehat I’m wondering if it falls into the category of revenge porn.
@Popehat we deserve to see her nudes because I believe it’s the only way to hold this government accountable.
@Oreoshake @Popehat It's called checks and balances. Her lower chamber has the right to review Hunter's executive branch before proposing an act of congress.
@Oreoshake @Popehat This does go against the historical tradition of courting first, so somebody's john roberts probably has an eye on the situation.
@Oreoshake @Popehat I just vomited in my mouth at the thought of her nude. Great. I'm never getting to sleep for at least a week now.
@Oreoshake @Popehat Haven’t we been punished enough?
@Popehat but surely RICO is involved somehow
@Popehat But, I wonder whether she is in possession of stolen property under state criminal law?
@Popehat How about just tasteful oil on canvas version?
@Popehat Thank you for your non-service.
@Popehat Glad you're feeling better, tho I suppose this could be you saying "What's Up, Doc?" in treatment! ;)
@Popehat while funny, I was more interest in if the GOP case had actually developed with the last hearing and the FBI form just released. My impression is that the IRS or Justice may have interfered in the performance of the investigation, but it was their call on how to do it. For the Burisma thing, it’s still a case of a dude heard a guy say a thing. We have no evidence the guy is honest (he’s hiding out in Monaco from corruption charges) or evidence that Joe Biden was involved. Thanks.
@Popehat Not even the promise of taint jokes can tempt you into touching this stove, which is really saying something.
@Popehat I don't like a lot of the words in this sentance
@Popehat Obviously she is obsessed with Hunter’s hog. I guess she likes them big.
@Popehat
One of Jon Watters finest students performing pink flamingos in drag for congress.

@Popehat
Hi, I'm Beeks.

I used to be Very Online and things like this would be unfortunately known to me. Then I discovered Touching Grass and now when I see toots like the above, I get a sense of euphoria by not knowing the context.

See your spouse to see if Touching Grass is right for you.

*side effects may include sneezing, itchiness, sunburn, and anal leakage.*

@Popehat But we need to know how soon until the Marshall of the FCC arrests MTG!

:-)

@Popehat I mean seems a pretty open and shut speech and debate exemption. Sure she could get censured (hahaha) by the House but I gotta think that's the extent of anything even at the most.

@Popehat

I don't think you need to analyse MTG. The law says it all!

Knowingly disclosing one or more sexual images of another identifiable person is prohibited by this statute, when:

The person depicted did not consent to the disclosure of the sexual image, and

The person disclosed the sexual image with the intent to harm the person depicted or to receive financial gain.

violations are punishable by fines or up to three years in prison.

@Popehat Wait, is that your legal analysis?
@Popehat How about a legal analysis of choosing to waive legal representation and defend yourself pro se, then not presenting a defense at trial? https://mstdn.ca/@arstechnica@mastodon.social/110748673832252734
