This is absurd and ridiculous. It sets a dangerous precedent for the open web and sharing of ideas. The focus is on Google and Meta, but this ultimately affects the indie developers and news-focused sites and services. It’s a link tax. It’s a horrible plan that will 100% backfire on these publishers and adversely affect their reach.

Journalism and its publishers are not in a good place right now, but this is not the answer.

I’m pretty much done playing nice with so called progressive groups who are willing to throw trans kids under the bus just so they can go back to their funders and say they “passed the bill to protect the children.” https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjv3qp/congress-is-pushing-an-online-safety-bill-supported-by-anti-lgbtq-groups
Congress Is Pushing An Online Safety Bill Supported By Anti-LGBTQ Groups

Advocates say the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) will be weaponized to censor LGBTQ content.

Jesus, can you imagine? And some people want me to go back.

Overt Acts and Predicate Acts, Explained

No, Fani Willis Is Not Making Tweets Or Phone Calls Into Crimes. But Maybe Her Indictment Is A Bit Indulgent And Gratuitous.

The Popehat Report
If this result is shocking, or you think Judge Chutkan is doing something outrageous, or it shows bias for Trump, or that it’s obviously wrong, you are not being a critical consumer of legal news, and should reconsider your diet of grifters.
This is an excellent time to be skeptical consumers of legal takes and be cautious about both Trumpist pseudo-legal disinformation and Resistance pseudo-legal wishcasting.

DoJ and federal prosecutors are pursuing Trump, who is awful. But don’t lose sight that DoJ and prosecutors are often awful and should not be trusted routinely just because you hate who they are prosecuting.

Anti-SLAPP win this morning. Dear CA plaintiffs and lawyers: just a reminder, under CA law even if I take a case pro bono you have to pay my fees, at rack rates, if I win an anti-SLAPP.

WARNING

THIS IS NOT A DRILL

WE ARE AT CONDITION MOMMY MILKY

Just a reminder that two prominent Federalist Society members wanted to overthrow the government by fraud and then have the government murder you if you objected.

Eat that with your fuckin’ Chick-fil-A sack lunch.
