Staring down 2 full pages of starred emails (i.e., "respond to this person") from just the last 5 days. Was just thinking how badly I need some time off. This is not helping.
@briankrebs come float down the river.
@noplasticshower Sounds like a great idea. Is there a planned floatilla happening soon?
@briankrebs no, but I live right on the river and have boats. Ideally we could hit a weekday and share the river only with eagles.
@briankrebs ironically, you will need to pop me an email to plan. I assume you know this sock puppet's real identity.
@noplasticshower haha i do. and you're on. will send you a note.
@briankrebs we are going to do a run Saturday fwiw. Left the beach early because it was too fucking hot.
@briankrebs My theory is that if you use something to prioritize your messages, they ALL become high priority pretty quickly. Nather’s Law of Equivalency, or something
@briankrebs I feel this in my bones. Ugh. I even just took a week off recently and it didn’t feel like it helped at all. 😢
@myraccoonhands i feel like it’s not really a vacation if work still piles up when you’re gone. You spend the time off worrying about all the work you have to do when you get back. My hot take is that all emails received during PTO can and should be deleted as soon as you get back. If it’s important they’ll ask again.
@thefreehunter Yes. And the fact that your vacation is spent to rest from work doesn’t make it feel good knowing you have to go back in and pick up where you left off and then some…
@briankrebs Be careful, this sounds a bit like your anecdote about being at the coffee shop and getting phished because you were so swamped/stressed!
@pyperkub never! which anecdote? Are you sure that's me?
@briankrebs Make an auto responder, grab your back pack and go. Seriously. There’s only so much of YOU and a world of NEED out there so, save yourself. If you burn out, nothing gets done.
