Is the English word «mind» untranslatable into #norwegian? We have “sinn», but it does not feel right. Need a good translation from English into Norwegian that keeps the original philosophical and scientific distinctions between «mind», “brain”, “cognition” and “consciousness” intact. @MaryPot sure, it’s related to philosophy of mind (which is usually translated into bevissthetsfilosofi), with questions like “What is the relation between mind and brain”, “does the mind extend to and include stuff outside of the brain, like use of tools, technologies, environments?”

Those are the ones I can come up with off-hand.

As with most non-physical things, each culture has their own set of nuances and ranges where those nuances are relevant.

When translating, I find it more important to convey the meaning of what is said, rather than the precise dictionary translation of each word.
