I traded green beans for a zucchini with my neighbor and I feel like a damn pioneer woman.
@Skepticat It is a truth universally acknowledged that any person growing a zucchini will end up with more than they can possibly use and will start throwing them at random passersby in an attempt deal with the harvest.
@kithrup @Skepticat I was going to say, OP traded FOR a zucchini? She's lucky she didn't get a gunny sack full of them.

@roadskater @kithrup @Skepticat

This is why you need to keep your car locked in the summer.

@kithrup @Skepticat "why do people in Connecticut lock their cars? So nobody leaves zucchini in them." I thought it was a dumb joke when I first heard it...
@nebulousmenace @Skepticat DAMN WE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT TRYING THAT!
@Skepticat that's really going to complicate your tax filings this year. Does the government take produce as payment?
@boscoandpeck I'm gonna need a tax man who isn't afraid of jail 😂
@Skepticat And then you went out back and split some logs.
@Skepticat "If you'll front me a cord of wood or two for the winter, I'll settle up with you at harvest time."

@Skepticat Sorry, but if you traded anything for a zucchini you came out on the wrong end of the bargain. A friend who taught in a rural school where if you left your car unlocked your back seat would be full of zucchini when you turned your back…

That said, I’m growing yellow zucchini in my tiny garden. 🤷

@Skepticat Did similar bartering during lockdown. It really is a way to remove payments if theres a significant situation between many people.
