Aww I missed them so much! Back in the states I would randomly encounter them in the forest every August (in Ohio the species was Goodyera pubescens which is a bit taller but otherwise very similar). These are Goodyera repens, unfortunately they don't grow right where I live in Austria but at least I got to see some with a 3 hour drive.

They grow in the forest and are so delicate. I think it's my favorite orchid!

@elias So cute! I was planning to visit a spot again where I saw it previously but apparently it has been destroyed 😭
@thalassa Oh no, that's always sad. Is it permanently destroyed, like the forest was clear cut? Or just some localized disturbance and they might come back?
@elias I heard the forest was mostly cut for a road :( I can't quite believe it yet, maybe I'll go check.
@thalassa Ah, that's a hard one. Stay away and not risk shock and depression of seeing the destruction for yourself, or go there and hope some plants survived somehow...
