been slowly going through M. bivittatus observations on #iNaturlist that aren't labelled as nymph and still need ID and trying to review them all. there are lots of good ones that are years old! I've almost got my list down to triple digits which is exciting
Si y'a des gens en #alsace qui font des identifications sur #iNaturlist ce week-end et qui voient des photos nulles (on fait ce qu'on peut) avec du vernis noir c'est moi 🫡😬 #basrhin #plantes

Some flowering silver moss (Bryum argentum) from yesterday. It's one of the most common mosses but always so pretty.

Don't know what was going on here. These ladies were swarming up through a crack in the sidewalk. All workers as far as I could tell.

iNaturalist algorithm thinks they're "Immigrant Pavement Ants"

Saw an Ophioparma ventos or blood spot lichen growing on a rock high up in the Alps. Made my day.

Love the appearance of thistle flowers. There is really an amazing variety of wildflowers and plants in this city.

Aww I missed them so much! Back in the states I would randomly encounter them in the forest every August (in Ohio the species was Goodyera pubescens which is a bit taller but otherwise very similar). These are Goodyera repens, unfortunately they don't grow right where I live in Austria but at least I got to see some with a 3 hour drive.

They grow in the forest and are so delicate. I think it's my favorite orchid!
