SnowGatorIt’s about time to let Games with Gold die. The initial list of included games with Core is better than anything that’s been on Gold in many years.
I’m slightly surprised they’re going to let anybody who has games from Gold stay in their account as long as they stay on Core. I figured they’d just let them have permanent keys to them, so it’d be less hassle to track that forever. It’s basically just a rebranding of Gold anyway.
Still think it’s crazy to charge a monthly membership for online multiplayer at all.
Games with Gold was a formality when PS3 made it optional to get free games. When they started giving free $.$$ single A budget games, it was over.
I won’t be surprised if eventually free games go away on Sony’s end as the hook of getting to subscribe is online access now when before they had to incentivize customers to subscribe
Sony isn’t going to do that, that’s the whole point of ps plus. Well, it used to be, now it’s about access to their expanded game catalog and classics along with the monthly games. I’m subbed to both and I’ve always said ps plus is the better deal. If anything this just proves that Jim Ryan was kind of right about publishers not liking GamePass.
GamePass is great but it’s honestly very volatile to the industry in the long term. We’ve seen this kind of thing happen with humble bundle, people will stop buying games thinking they’re gonna end up in a humble bundle, next thing you know humble bundle is purchased by IGN and it gets even worse. I’m all for GamePass and ps plus, but not if it means increased game prices and less game innovation.
This list is so weird, over two thirds of the titles start with the first 7 letters of the alphabet. All but the last 4. It’s like someone started making a list, realized they were going to release more later, and rather than remake the list, they just threw a few games that fell later in the alphabet to round it out so they didn’t have to redo the list.
I guess this will also end the xbox live to gamepass ultimate conversion which is currently still the cheapest way (without relying on key reseller sites) to get gamepass ultimate.

My 3 year subscription will end in September. I’m considering getting three more 12 Xbox live codes, as from what I understand that will be converted to 2years of gamepass ultimate.
CoachDomI mean, people saying “Games with Gold were shit anyways” - true, but it was an added value. No loss on your side, maybe just got a shitty game you never cared about.
Now most of the people on the Ultimate subscription will not only loose that, but the pricing will increase.
So you are loosin an added value, but you will be paying more. I wouldn’t say it’s such a good trade off…
So wait, does console gamepass not come with online multiplayer? Core does, Ultimate does, and PC naturally does. Or is the only way to play online on console with Ultimate(or core)
