Hey gang, I’m going to be reducing the number of feeds I’m looking at which means I’m going to be closing this account on Mastodon along with the @sofa account in a few weeks. I have nothing but love for Mastodon, but I’m just looking to simplify things for myself.

@shawn I understand the intent, but your actions speak louder than words by supporting Threads immediately out of the gate. If these apps were open you'd be able to cross post updates. You remaining on the platforms shows your support.

@jarbochov @shawn @sofa agreed. Of all the Twitter replacements, Threads is the worst… just feels like text Instagram, not Twitter. Mastodon feels like 2008 Twitter. BlueSky feels like 2020 Twitter with fewer Nazis.

@covercash @jarbochov honestly, I've been using social media less and less over time. I don't want to be checking multiple apps either. So I'm just picking one for now.

I have no idea what Threads will become, but I'm able to follow a lot of non-apple folks (and Apple folks) over there who never made it over to Mastodon.

Most of my time is going to spent on my Youtube channel and newsletter anyways.

@shawn thanks Shawn! I’m bummed but I get it! There are too many of these things these days. Part of what I love about Sofa is that it’s not a social network like Letterboxd and Backloggd etc.

@JeroenSchaper I’m simply reducing the number of social accounts I'm on to free up more time to work on Sofa and the YouTube channel. My brain can't handle all these different accounts lol.

There are a lot of people I wasn't following on Mastodon because they simply never came over here. Threads just has more of those people.

@shawn FOMO over here tbh. Threads will take a while to adhere to privacy law of the EU 😕

I understand though. I’ve been reducing these things myself as well. Timeline apps are becoming a bit exhausting 🤔
