Red-naped Sapsucker, Black-backed Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker.
geographile@Cyanocitta did you go in burn areas? I went on a burn specific walk at Mono Lake once and there were so many nuthatches and woodpeckers on dead trees!
@geographile Yes, the Black-backed Woodpecker(s) were seen in the burn scar (Dixie Fire I believe) behind Summit Lake.
@Cyanocitta it's been almost exactly 2 years. I was camping at Greenville the week it started, and we had to go home down 89 instead of 70. And then a week later, Greenville was gone. When it hit lassen I was just overwhelmed, I could never have imagined that.
A year ago I was camping at Summit lake, and the fire damage was exactly up to the edge of the campground on the south side of the lake. The park will never be the same, but it will find a way to be beautiful.
