What android client do you use? - Lemmy.world

So far, for me, liftoff and connect seems the most complete.

I keep coming back to connect. I find it offers the best feature set currently.
I just moved to Connect and I am really impressed. I was waiting for Boost, but I think I might stay here.
Is Connect open source? I can’t find a repo for it.

It’s not.

The dev says they’ll open source it later, but it’s just hypothetical for now.

Connect dev here. Yeah I’d like to clean things up first and also see where the interest lies. Maintaining open source software I feel is more stressful than people realize…
I’ve got jerboa, but typically I just use a web browser since the mobile experience is really good for most fediverse platforms, and when they’re not it’s an opportunity to improve them – lotide had a terrible experience on mobile until I improved it on my site which then the dev used to create a whole new theme that worked way better on mobile.
Sadly most client has jitter scrolling except voyager and summit

Summit user here too.

It’s very rough and ready but it works, and does seem to be updated every now and then.

It’s very feature-light but hopefully that’ll get patched in now while the Lemmy app goldrush bumps up a gear.

I’ve been using Jerboa for a while now, and it looks like I’m staying for a while on this boat.
Voyager, and Liftoff.
I use Jerboa mostly, but I’ve also tried out the other apps as well, but so far Jerboa has worked the best for me. However, I’m just waiting for Sync for Lemmy to be released. I use Sync for Reddit for a long time, so I know that it will be just as great.
Jerboa is the only one on FDroid, so I use it. It’s pretty good, I’d like to try other apps but I wish they’d put them on FDroid.

@Elephant0991 Ok, I will remind you on Saturday Jul 22, 2023 at 6:24 AM PDT.
I switched to Connect for Lemmy and it’s great
This almost reads like an ad for T-Mobile or something hah.

I switched to T-Mobile home internet and it’s great.

(I actually did, and it actually is… I pay half what I paid to Comcast for 6x the speed)

You were getting like 5mb with Comcast?
I went from 100/10 to 600/60Mbps.
“I’m commander Shepard and this is my favorite store on the Citadel.”
I tried Liftoff, Connect, and Jerboa, and settled on Jerboa.
tried jerboa thunder and some other one I think but liftoff is the only one that runs smoothly for me
Liftoff for now. It’s the least buggy Android client I have come across. I definitely prefer Memmy on iOS though.
I was waiting for Boost to release but ended up installing Connect and have been really happy with it. I’m probably going to stick with it.
Using connect at the moment. Tried most of them but connect just reminds me of slide and I am so looking forward to seeing slide here. Life is so much more fun again ;)
I’m waiting for Sync for Lemmy to arrive. I’ve just been using the website on mobile. It’s not that bad!

As a Sync Pro user for years, I suggest giving Connect a shot. The swipe to hide posts was what finally locked me in.

I’m going to jump to Sync as soon as it’s available, but Connect is a good holdover.

I did see Connect a lot in my local feed, as it’s a community in my account’s instance. It looks promising and I’ll try it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
I think Connect is the best one out right now. Most features, customization, and polish.
Jerboa is the only one I’ve used and it does the job.
I started on Jerboa. The instance I'm on stayed on 17.4, and Jerboa stopped working. Rather than downgrade Jerboa versions, I moved to Liftoff and couldn't be happier.
I’m self-hosting an instance of voyager and it’s been great so far. The devs are pushing updates so often, sometimes I have to update it twice in a single days.
I started with Jerboa because I browse in compact mode and it reminded me the most of Boost, but once I found Thunder there was just no going back. Very polished UI and the dev team has been on a roll with fixes and features. It’s only on GitHub right now but it’s pending review on the play store. Check it out even if you tried it a week or two ago - it’s great and only getting better!

Connect is great, because you can use it to block posts with certain keywords automatically.

Besides that, wefwef.app is my favorite. You can really tell, that the devs there put a lot of passion into this.

Liftoff will always be my favourite
I move between Thunder and Connect. Connect added a bottom navigation option that I really like making it the current leader.
I rotate between liftoff, connect, and jerboa. All three are fantastic but I’m growing a preference for liftoff
Using Jerboa for now until either Slide for Lemmy or Infinity for Everything are more stable.
are slide and infinity out?

Currently I’m using Connect for Lemmy as it’s the closest to what I’m used to. In fact, it seems like the dev is trying to make a clone of Sync lol. But I’m chomping at the bit for the release of Sync for Lemmy
Dumb question but how did you manage to write japanese in your username? I tried it on another account yesterday and it didnt allow me to
Yes! Glad you doing it! Quick note: apparently, 2 characters is too short for a display name lol
That’s pretty unfortunate for ideogram-based languages, or even people who wanted to name themselves Jo for example
Jerboa for Lemmy. Also pre-registered for Boost for Lemmy and Slide for Lemmy.

Currently using liftoff and its been great and done everything I want it to do but will be jumping ship the second Sync for lemmy comes out. [email protected]

Side not, holy shit when you put an “!” the start typing a sub while on desktop it starts to autopopulate then you can pick what you want and it just puts in the formatting. Idk if that is instance specific or something lemmy itself just does but it’s awesome.

wefwef until boost is released
Check out Voyager - wefwef is retired I think
It’s the same app. Both works.
You’re right, they didn’t retire Wefwef.app, I see it now points to what they’re calling Voyager - but if someone is looking for the current name the developers are using it is Voyager
Wefwef (now Voyager) until Sync is released. Honestly Voyager is pretty damn good already.
I’ve tried them all, and as of right now Connect feels the most polished and feature rich. So that’s my recommendation.

Save story here, and Connect seems to be the furthest along.

I’ll probably switch to Sync for Lemmy when it makes it’s debut, but Connect is almost a good enough replacement.

Jerboa for now, but Liftoff sounds promising and I might give it a try.
Thunder is very smooth and easy to use.
