Thou shalt never, ever, ever complain that Deutsche Bahn's online tools are bad until you have tried making Renfe's website do anything at all. It's such a pile of complete and total abject shit. In comparison Deutsche Bahn's digital services are like some wonderful Neuland.
@jon 😂 😂 is all relative

@jon
Sitting comfortably in a fast and clean train that is just a little too full or a few minutes late, surrounded by indignant conversations about how terribly run the rail service is, how greedy and mismanaged; listening to strangers swap stories of travel chaos, while others tut-tut and nod along... that's the moment I know I'm back in Germany.

This phenomenon quite comforting really in its dependability. I really can't imagine DB with happy passengers. That would be so weird.

@cobordism There is a lot to complain about. But damn when you have experienced all of Europe's railways, the Germans do complain at a high level.
@jon I've been told Spanish programmers use "renfe" as a unit of measurement for how bad and janky a piece of software is.
@jon True... the DB website has all the flaws of modern online services... but it works and has information that is correct. Also I always thought their app DB Navigator was pretty good
@Konzertheld Exactly. The basics work if you know how to make it work for you.
@jon it‘s not a coincidence that Trainline is advertising on massive billboards in and around stations in Spain.
@Jonock In France too. The two markets where the purchase process from the incumbents is awful!

@jon weeeeell. Swiss railway writes on their website "if you want to make an international train travel with a bicycle, use the search engine of Deutsche Bahn".

French colleague "I use bahn.de to search from m for connections in France"

Italian search ... Can do "show later connections" if your initial search didn't fit, but the "show earlier connections" button is missing.

Increase layover to ensure you'll find your way on a Swedish train station? Bahn.de is your friend.

@pseyfert Sure I’m fine with it. But many Germans complain about it!
