@daedalus I know of them but was never old enough to use them
@daedalus The proper term usually is a Credit card imprinter. Have heard many names for these things over the years. Place I work at threw some out in the last 12 months.
@cefiar @daedalus Funny, we always called them a "clack clack" machine.
@daedalus That device had the best haptic feedback.
@daedalus

and to match the
device the book FULL of card card numbers
@daedalus

Me: "ka-chonk-chonk" (damn I ripped another one)
@daedalus I'm told they're still kept in the emergency power outage box for Bunnings stores.
@daedalus I think you mean the SHNK-SHNK machine?
@daedalus And dumpster diving for carbons 😉
@daedalus You knew you were going to get ripped off when a taxi driver pulled one out ‘because the machine isn’t working’
@daedalus I've never heard the term but I knew exactly what you meant.
@daedalus I've inferred that you mean the manual impression machine, but I've never heard it called that.

@daedalus And knew cards don't have the numbers embossed any more.

Forever goodbye to the carbon paper-duplicate receipts...
