I don't give fuck the first if this costs me sales. Fuck'em, let them riot if they want. It's my product, I'll put what the fuck I like on it.

@mos_8502 i see what you mean… THOSE PINHEADERS ARE A DEAL BREAKER!

@mos_8502 I'll take five!

…Wait, what does this actually do?

@TerrorBite It allows you to connect up to four SNES controllers or mice to an #RC2014 computer (a series or standard for kit computers you build yourself) and write code to use them.

@mos_8502 When are you sticking this on sale?

I'd love to get some perspective on the choice of SNES controller. It's a proprietary port, but I'm seeing it crop up more and more for modern-retro devices.

@kianryan It goes on sale after it's been verified to work.

The patent is expired, so it's not really proprietary any more -- it's made by multiple companies, legally. Hyperkin, for a start, and 8BitDo, and a small ocean of nameless Shenzhen companies.

It's also one of the nicest controllers to actually use in the hand, and it has 8 buttons and a good D-pad, and the protocol for reading it is very simple, and requires only a single 8-bit I/O port to accomplish under software control.

@mos_8502 \m/ \m/

Are you suppose to snap the lower parts off?

@breadbin Yes. The controller ports are breakaway PCBs which you then connect to the main PCB with ribbon cables. This reduces the costs to manufacture the boards, as the gestalt is still under the size needed to get the good prices at PCBWay and JLCPCB.

@mos_8502 I kinda want one of those RC2014 things. Seems like fun. Really need to organize so many things first.

Someone needs to make a cool case for this :)

@mos_8502 @breadbin if i do that i always get "Mimimi, this is more than one design, you have to pay more!!!1!" from them. 🙄

*yes, I know next to nothing about gaming or what that red thing is.

@mos_8502 Reminds me of Foone's PCBs.

@0x10f @mos_8502 @garrwolfdog

They are truly, a work of art… although? I -REALLY- want to cover those holes

@mos_8502 curious, what's this for?
@lunaa It’s an expansion module for the RC2014 kit computer, which lets you connect up to four SNES controllers to it.
@mos_8502 Damn right!! thanks for taking a stand.

@mos_8502 hey, this is rad.

I don’t know. But based on this, you’re probably rad, too.
