Common sense and biology say that updating a gender marker on a license is as necessary as updating the picture as one ages.

But a conservative judge in Kansas who sided with the anti-trans Attorney General doesn't like reality. Her tissue-thin defense of stopping trans people from updating their documents was that doing so presents a "safety concern" because dang it the police need outdated misleading information that confuses things. #trans #journlism #kansas

@breadbin @e_urq I'm aware, but the story is about Kansas where it is on identification and is something that fluctuates far more often and heavily than gender?

@deilann @e_urq Sorry if I sounded dismissive, not my intention. All that info is on the driver’s licenses here in MN as well and I don’t think it needs to be included (including gender).

And yes, who updates hair color and weight? I just copy what is on my previous license. If people want to change the gender let them. Heck they probably don’t have any useful options anyways… It’s not like mine says he/him even.

@breadbin @e_urq they also don't whip out a scale for weight or a pantone color sheet for hair. It's self reported.

And thank you for the apology - I get a lot of people actually being dismissive in this way, and it's exhausting
