Jonas Ferdinand Gabriel Lippmann died #OTD in 1921. He was awarded by the Nobel Prize in Physics (1908) “for his method of reproducing colours photographically based on the phenomenon of interference.”

Marie Curie was his Doctoral student. And Pierre Curie was his collaborator in piezoelectricity. Lippmann made several important contributions to various branches of physics over the years. via @wikipedia
