Hey #seabikes folks, the combination crosswalk and stop signs when the Burke-Gilman trail intersects with a street with cars confuses me. I feel like the stop signs shouldn’t be there since cars should presumably stop for anyone walking or rolling on the trail, particularly with the continuous grade ped/bike path forming a speed bump for cars. Does anyone know the intent here?

@kyleellman I do think it's silly they're there but I think it's for cyclists to stop prior to crossing the sidewalk in case there are pedestrians heading perpendicular to the trail?

@drewbearjohnson oh, that actually makes some sense if it’s for pedestrians along the street. I just notice a lot of bikes will stop there for cars (instead of yielding to peds like you suggest), and then everyone sits there confused for a moment. But in practice very few people actually stop at those signs since most cars (thankfully) will yield. 🤷‍♂️
