@protonmail Is a Linux version also coming up? :) But great development! Being able to automatically sync files without manually having to upload them is something I missed.
@chrisonline @protonmail Ow nice, Thanks for pointing it out! Nice to see a version is planned 😀
@bartwillemsen @chrisonline @protonmail linux is the middle child of OS. always remembered last 😦
@blogdiva @bartwillemsen @protonmail So true. But it is good that we get one. Often there is no Linux version planned.
@blogdiva @chrisonline @protonmail haha but at least it is remembered 🙈 we’re used to be picked last
@chrisonline @bartwillemsen @protonmail This is good to hear! I've recently been looking for a secure and private cloud storage backup option that works with both Windows and Linux, so this sounds like another good option to consider once available.
@bartwillemsen @protonmail it says ``Once the macOS app is released, we’ll also work on our planned Linux version.``
The macos app is currently in beta
@protonmail I can't wait to test the linux version! 😛
@protonmail Do you have the proton pass on Mastodon?
@protonmail also happy to test the Linux version as soon I can...
@protonmail Would love to see auto-backup of folders / images on Android.
@protonmail Great news! Where can I sign up to test the MacOS beta?
@altim Currently users cannot sign up, we are sending invites via email. However, if we expand the access to the beta, we'll let you know!
@protonmail this is awesome news! Can't wait to try it out when I get home from work. 😍

@protonmail am I able to have separate vaults for the device in using?

For instance I don’t want my personal vault to be syncd to my work laptop. But on my personal PC I would like to see both my personal and work vault/credentials

@protonmail We need a Linux desktop version with automatic synch option for backing up @keepassxc Files!!
On Linux until now, there are no good clouds with automatic synch.
Do you know any good one?

#privacy #proton #drive #Linux #Fedora

@Life_is_Beautiful @protonmail There is no need for this. Cloud synchronization is not a backup. You can achieve the same thing with a flash drive -- cloud synchronization is just a little easier. The web client is easy enough to use. If you're using #linux and need file synchronization between multiple devices I suggest using `rsync` with a NAS or other storage device.
@TheKeymaker @Life_is_Beautiful @protonmail There's nothing stopping you from treating Proton Drive as a backup. You need multiple backups on different things anyways
@TheKeymaker
Flash drives are great and inexpensive. But they can fail, although they have been known to survive the odd laundry cycle. They can also be lost or stolen, and they don't survive house fires unless stored in a fireproof box. Having an additional trusted offsite backup for your most important data seems like a good idea to me.
@Life_is_Beautiful @protonmail
@protonmail Glad to see I don’t have to ask if a Linux version is coming, as this is already answered in the blog post 👍
@protonmail can an ARM version be expected?:)
@protonmail Any plans to support Windows on Arm?
@protonmail alright proton you have my attention! As a sysadmin, cyber security specialist and content creator... I think I can get behind this.
@MartinGuay Happy to hear this Martin!
@protonmail finally! Will give it a try when I get home.

@protonmail with Linux (Fedora?) coming soon? Pretty please !
@protonmail what about Linux?
@redscroll_py Linux is on our long-term roadmap.
@protonmail now do linux and make us all happy
@Decentralize It's part of our long-term plans!
@protonmail sounds good... Ditch also the google push thing on android. Tutanota works without google services. #privacymatters
@Decentralize @protonmail yeah, you guys made a promise back then when the old UI was in use, don't forget it.
@protonmail any chance to put me on the Mac beta waitlist?
@khomyakov Hi! We currently don't have one, and have only provided access to the beta app to the Proton Lifetime users. However, there may be one in the future, and you'll be informed about it via email.
@protonmail that’s great for my #Windows devices, but what about my #Linux because I daily drive linux
@chiefgyk3d @protonmail ya I use Linux to

@vampire_lord_red_fang @chiefgyk3d @protonmail

From the blog after I read it thoroughly:
https://proton.me/blog/proton-drive-windows
".....Once the macOS app is released, we’ll also work on our planned Linux version."

As for my personal feedback...

Can we hope for a #Flatpak release?

That'd be ⬆️☝️ for me. Distribution agnostic.

Ease of use on cloud image based systems/distributions.

Tho using #distrobox to export apps from Arch AUR or APTs from Debian has also been fun / works swell too.

@protonmail is the Linux app ever coming??
@monkeboi It's part of our long-term plans, so yes!
@protonmail is the #linux #app at least planned to release this year?
