BigBonI was thinking about account creation on fediverse. Came to my mind. Could it use ssh keys to authenticate? Every instance would store a local public key and a list of other instances that have this exact account on them(to display all posts). This would ease up the "choose instance" problem.
@bigbon I recently created my Mastodon account, and I think my initial problem was not being sure which server to use. I wanted to find a great community (and I did!). The technical part of signing up was far less cumbersome than the social part (finding the right community). Is there a way that could could list several interests or preferences and then have instances suggested to them that might be a good fit?
@mjwhite31 that's what I'm saying instead of creating an account on an instance you create a key and share it with all instances you go to, those instances sync in the background to display same toots everywhere
