@jackofalltrades I have a 5 gal. pail with a lid and inside that pail is a stack of mismatched dinner plates along with a bag filled with mismatched silverware - enough for over people (largish family). It is used for family gatherings & parties in the park. Two of my daughters make fun of me because "it's easier to just use paper & plastic" but I don't care.

I'm less worried about the per se human effort and more worried about the pricing, what it says about what we value and don't. As a society, we should be valuing minimized energy use, especially until we're off fossil fuels and onto something legit sustainable. Even things that purport to be otherwise still have cost in producing the so-called sustainable item. And we just don't add that stuff up like we should.

Losing Ground in the Environment

Essay on how we can't still see the world as an infinite resource. Things are interconnected and finite, so we need a fresh mindset when planning.

As a matter of fact, companies pay people to collect (incomplete) data and calculate how much more ecological it is to use the plastic spoon. πŸ™„
