As I told HuffPost: One reason why age bias continues into middle & older ages for women: "As they grow older and more mature in their careers, [women] lose some of the fear of speaking their mind. And certain men don’t like that."

Data Reveals An Infuriating Reason Women Over 40 Are Held Back At Work

A recent study exposes how insidious age discrimination is β€” and it should make you mad.

@amydiehl This hits the nail on the head. The more knowledgeable, confident, and outspoken women get as they age, the more bullshit they have to deal with in the work place.
@amydiehl For many (probably most) men, a woman's only value is for sex. That's our animal nature and must be consciously overcome. That is why Wisdom calls most of our fellows, "like the animals, only worse." This is the sad reality of our as-yet-unevolved state, dear sister. The term "woke" is truly on-the-nose accurate, as most people have not yet woken up to their humanity, where selfless compassion drives our ideals, attitudes, and behaviors. Peace be with you.

@lpah4all @amydiehl I realize you're trying to be supportive here, so please take this feedback in the same spirit:

It's in no one's "animal nature" to discount half the species as less than fully human. This is done via socialization that happens in literally billions of ways as a person grows up and then experiences life in this world. Assumptions and beliefs can become so ingrained they can easily feel "natural" but they are all learned bits of how to navigate the world, much like speaking your native language can feel natural, but it is entirely learned.

Sick cultural norms have been responsible for pretty much -all- the human problems we have created for ourselves and the planet. Agree that waking up to our biases is how we become better humans.

@CJPaloma @amydiehl To be human is to be able to choose to be a selflessly loving person, or selfishly callous. Humanity alone can navigate morality via choice, and that means waking up from our ingrained cultural and personal moral failings. So, sure, we're all human, but that means we have to self-evolve beyond our animal selfishness. Most people on Earth haven't, and it's glaringly obvious to anyone who has begun that journey, for morality is perceptual as well, and it purifies our biases.

@amydiehl β€œMen will allow women into the workplace ... and will be supportive of women in the workplace to the extent that women are compliant, supportive of the men, and they don’t push back.”

Yes... and this part, right here πŸ‘† It's all about power and limiting access to resources (the good job, the opportunities for progression, the money, the security, the status)

@amydiehl All of this applies to white cis women (among all white cis folks) feeling threatened. They want to control access to opportunities and resources as long as everyone else is compliant.
