@fingolas because they don't care, they want power. Why they would resign? Because of imagined ethics? LOL. They do not work when someone is dead set to bring fascism.
@fingolas That party and the Conservatives have no shame. The Swedish speaking party profiles as human rights and minority rights as core values. It really needs to divorce itself from this shitshow. That would also cause the collapse of the government coalition. If the Conservatives want to lie down with the finns party, they can operate as a minority govt.

@fingolas Good question. I guess because she is the head of the Finns party and the other parties in this new government don't find this damaging or objectionable enough yet for them kick them out and return to negotiations for forming a different government. (which might be the only alternative they have)

It would be fairly strange if nothing besides a half-hearted apology comes of this.

@fingolas
She's not resigning because these texts represent accurately what she stands for and was elected on.

The PM is not resigning the entire government, because he has no fundamental moral position he's not willing to compromise to stay in power. He's betting this thing will simply blow over.

But we haven't seen nearly the end of it, and the Speaker of Parliament, her mentor and former party leader is just fanning the flames, because that's what he does.

@osma @fingolas Osma's post is spot on. This is who they are and have always been.

After a party split some years ago, the overt racists gained control of the party. For years, the party and its voters protested characterizations of being racist. The radical right takeover made it clear who they are, though. Finland has a lot of choice when it comes to voting, so voting for the racist nationalist party with ultra-right wing neonazi and fascist links is a certainly a choice.
