What is your tier list of places to visit in England? - LemmyWorld

As someone who grew up in London and not explored much of England, what is your tier list of places to visit in England and would love to know why.

  • The Lake District is amazing, well worth a trip - there are parts that look like something out of Jurrassic Park - big mountains with rolling forests and steep valleys.
  • The Yorkshire Dales is great - you’ve got Malham with the truly awesome geological fault, Gordale Scar, and wild swimming in Janet’s Foss - then all sorts of wild swimming in the rivers, strange rock formations at Briham, and much more.
  • Edale in the Peak District is an amazing place, lots of limestone hills to climb, interesting mines to explore, and strange village customs to take part in - and a lot of no-nonsense, delicious food.
  • Whilst a PitA to get to, the Devon and Cornish coastlines are so nice they seem like they don’t belong in England! Picture Postcard stuff.
  • Old cities like Oxford, Cambridge, York and Bath are really nice.
  • Bristol is a particularly lively, young-person focused City with a great music and arts scene.
  • Brighton & Hove is a really nice seaside town that’s absolutely buzzing and has tons of amazing restaurants.
  • Blackpool is a shit hole, but it’s Blackpool so worth a visit!
  • Alton Towers (near Stoke) is the best theme park in the country IMO.
